Bumble is hiring Clare O’Connor as its first Editorial Director, with the company looking to diversify into producing online content through ‘Bumble Media’ channels.

O’Connor was previously a staff writer at Forbes, covering female entrepreneurs, diversity in tech and workplace equality issues.

CEO and Founder Whitney Wolfe Herd said in a statement: “As you’ve seen with the additions of Erin and Sara Foster and now with a journalist the caliber of Clare who’s charted and championed female entrepreneurs for years, we’re putting together a dynamic team as we build out Bumble Media.

“Our users have a relationship with our brand and are demanding more and more Bumble content and we’re committed to delivering that content with a team that’s as talented as they are passionate about our mission.”

Bumble Media is set to focus on both longform and shorter content, with pieces being shared on the app’s various social channels.

Techcrunch reports that users can “Expect to see Bumble Media focus on content that highlights the benefits of its platform while also telling the stories of female leaders and change makers.”

The platform will host video content as well as written content, with the Foster sisters taking the lead in production.

Wolfe Herd will be hoping to replicate the success of Grindr’s editorial effort INTO.

The LGBTQ network made a significant impact in 2017 with its lifestyle magazine, reaching tens of millions of readers since its launch in August.
