Last Friday, GDI went to check out Bumble’s pop-up space in Brown Hart Gardens in London.
The event, called The Hive: London, was a two-day networking and “brand experience” with a series of live panels, wellness classes and workshops to coincide with the recent launch of Bumble Bizz.
GDI attended the “Why Mindfulness is the Key to Success” panel, which featured Louise Troen, the International Brand Director at Bumble speaking to three other women – Poppy Jamie, an entrepreneur at digital app Happy Not Perfect, Executive Director at Women for Women International Brita Fernandez Schmit and Madeleine Shaw, a Health Expert at Glow Guides.
The panel was an insightful discussion about how women, in particular, can look after and empower themselves, not only in the working environment but in their everyday lives, the panelists providing the audience with helpful career advice.
Louise Troen asked their thoughts on what the most important aspects of being a good leader are, what tips they use to stay calm, and how people can look after and maintain their mental health.
The women then opened up the floor to the audience, attendees asking questions such as how interns can get their voice heard and what inspirational books the panelists recommended.
Within the pop-up space, which took three days to set up prior to the event, stood two “hive” domes where the yoga, panels and workshops took place.
In the second dome there were hair and make-up stations, the chance for people to get headshots done, ask more about Bumble and get tips on how to improve their profiles.
There were also interactive screens for people to set up their Bumble Bizz profiles, comfy chairs and cushions to relax and chat, and motivational quotes like “No matter how you feel get up, show up and never give up” on the walls.
Outside, there was a cafe where attendees were able to get free refreshments, a chill out zone with tables and Bumble-themed deck chairs where people could eat, drink and network.
