Grindr Releases Set Of 500 Emojis In New App Gaymoji

Gay dating app Grindr has launched its very own set of emojis.

Available with a new app called Gaymoji, Grindr has released 500 emojis (or gaymojis) for the “LGBTQ community and beyond”.

The emojis include a rainbow-coloured heart, a cloud raining men and a peach with a phone handset placed on top, as well as versions of the Grindr face icon portraying a number of different emotions.

All the gaymojis are placed into categories, such as profile, mood, body and dating and sex, the app offering 100 free emojis to all users who download the mobile app.

People can then unlock all 500 gaymojis for $3.99, or each category individually for $0.99, and can access the emojis in any app by switching to a specific keyboard.

Grindr CEO Joel Simkhai said: “Partly, this project started because the current set of emojis set by some international board were limited and not evolving fast enough for us.

“If I wanted to say something about going dancing, I would always have to use the red-dress dancing woman. I thought, ‘Why isn’t there a guy dancing?’ It was weird to me that I always had to send that woman in the red dress.”

The Gaymoji app is available on iTunes and Google Play for free.
