LeakedSource Claims Shadi.com Hacked & 2m User Details Posted Online

Last month, it was revealed that popular Muslim dating site Muslim Match was hacked and the information of 150,000 users had been leaked online.

And now hacked data search engine LeakedSource has claimed that fellow matrimonial dating site Shadi.com – not to be confused with Shaadi.com – has also been hacked.

LeakedSource said the data set contains 2,035,020 records, and is made up of user email addresses and passwords.

And the report states that passwords were stored in plaintext, with no hashing or encryption.

The site says it obtained and added a copy of this data to its “ever-growing searchable repository of leaked data.”

On its website, Shadi says it is a “web based marriage introduction service. The target audience are men and women living in UK, USA and Canada and others looking to marry from these countries.”

Its About Us section also says: “Specific care is taken not to expose the contact information of the members to prevent unwanted communication and maintain privacy.”

And the collection of alleged user names and passwords is now available on the LeakedSource site, where users can search for names and opt to remove their information.

LeakedSource commented on the hack, saying: “You may search for yourself in the leaked Shadi.com database by visiting our homepage.

“If your personal information appears in our copy of this database, or in any other leaked database that we possess, you may remove yourself for free.”

LeakedSource claims the site was hacked on 10th July – days after the Muslim Match data was posted online.

The Muslim Match data included over half a million private messages sent between its members, along with user profiles and information.
