Apple’s iOS 10 Will Let Developers Integrate Siri Into Apps

Apple has just revealed the new features that will be available with its new iPhone operating system, iOS 10.

iOS 10 will see a revamp of Siri, messaging, maps, photos, the music store and the home app, adding new features and trying to make the devices more user friendly.

Apple’s senior VP of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, said: “iOS 10 is our biggest release ever, with delightful new ways to express yourself in Messages, a native app for Home automation and beautifully redesigned apps for Music, Maps, and News that are more intuitive and more powerful, making everything you love about your iPhone and iPad even better.”

And among the many updates to the iPhone’s operating system, Apple has also revealed an exciting new change to Siri.

As a handy way to get your phone to search via voice recognition, Apple will soon allow iPhone users to interact directly with apps using just their voice.

This change is designed to make using apps easier, and also means that developers can now design apps that are compatible with Siri.

This new feature will enable Apple owners to use Siri for things such as messaging, phone calls and photo search within apps.

It could mean some big changes to communication-based apps, such as dating platforms, as users will be able to navigate in apps using just their voice.

As well as changes to Siri, Apple are also introducing a way for apps to integrate with its maps service, letting users “book a ride, without ever leaving the Maps app,” or get a table at a nearby restaurant, for example.

Apple are also bringing in more “expressive & animated” features to its messaging service, with the use of stickers and full screen effects, invisible messaging and handwritten notes.

The tech giant also assured that with the greater freedom the new update brings, privacy is still a major priority for Apple.

Federighi said: “Starting with iOS 10, Apple is using technology called Differential Privacy to help discover the usage patterns of a large number of users without compromising individual privacy.

“In iOS 10, this technology will help improve QuickType and emoji suggestions, Spotlight deep link suggestions and Lookup Hints in Notes.”
