Thurst, a new dating and hookup app is dedicating itself to providing queer, trans and gender non-conforming singles with a safe dating platform.

The geolocation-based app is the brainchild of co-founders Morgan Bromell and Rosa Pergams, who created the app after a conversation with friends about the lack of dating services available for people who identify as queer and transgender.

Bromell, the 22 year-old CEO and co-founder told TechCrunch: “We were talking about our various experiences on Tinder and realising there wasn’t actually a space to exist and feel completely comfortable, and safe to interact with people and try to date at all.”

The app is tailored to generate matches for its users based on individual preferences and security settings, and has a range of features adapted exclusively for its audience.

These features include a comprehensive list of gender identities, pronouns, sexuality, and relationship styles, levels of non-oppressive identity verification to block predators, trolls, and known community abusers, and even a section to express “kink and fetish”.

Thurst also uses a “well designed verbal and visual messaging system”, accompanied with unlimited storage.

Looking at its official site, Thurst’s commitment to catering for the identities of its users is all the more evident.

The site states: “As we develop and grow, we aim to add features and designations to make sure that every queer person is affirmed while using our app.

“Your identity, safety, and trust are very important to us.”

The app deploys a range of key features to guarantee the safety and enjoyment of its users.

Thurst is currently in beta stage, and the team are hoping to officially launch the app for iOS and Android devices by next year.

At present, the team are trying to raise a round of seed funding, which will be used to employ a web designer.
