France Creates New Visa To Attract Foreign Tech Talent

French Tech Visa

The French government is creating a new visa designed to attract foreign tech talent.

The French Tech VISA is part of the “Passeport Talent” scheme launched in 2016 to bring more business talent into the country.

The four year Visa aims to fast-track foreign tech talent looking to work in France.

The government wants to attract foreign startup & scale-up founders and employees, foreign talent joining French startups, as well as foreign investors and business angels.

Those within the European Economic Area and Switzerland, however, do not require this special visa.

The visa is for four years, works on a renewable basis and means that employees don’t have to apply for a work permit.

In addition to this, successful applicants will get a family residence permit for their spouse, which gives them access to standard employment in France.

To get a French Tech Visa, interested parties have three choices – they can apply to the French Tech Ticket program, a 12-month seed accelerator for “international entrepreneurs willing to create their startup in France.”

They can also apply to a number of other French accelerators and startup competitions that La French Tech will be partnering with.

Lastly, you can contact your local French Consulate and follow the instructions to apply for a “Passeport Talent”.
