Meetic Launches Facebook Messenger Bot To Help Singles Create Profiles & Find Matches

After launching bots for Messenger earlier this year, Facebook recently announced it has seen over 11,000 bots built for its chat app, with 23,000 developers signing up to create one.

The bots are designed to help businesses optimise consumer engagement by letting them chat to their customers on the social network.

And last week it was announced that European dating giant Meetic has created a bot that chats with singles and helps them improve their chances of finding love.

Members of the dating site can strike up a conversation with the bot, called Lara or Tom, who will offer advice on things such as how to create a profile on the app.

As well as this, Meetic’s Messenger bots also help singles with their search – asking what they are looking for and showing them a selection of potential weekly matches.

Singles can then click through from Messenger to the Meetic site to view the profiles.

Speaking about the feature, the General Manager of Facebook, Laurent Solly said: “We are delighted that Meetic is the first player to build a dating bot on Facebook Messenger.

“Meetic has demonstrated its ability to innovate, offering its members a personalised experience, perfectly suited to their needs and uses.”

Alexander Lubot, the CEO of Meetic and Match Group Europe said the artificial intelligence feature was designed to be another way of helping singles meet each other offline.

Facebook recently announced updates to its chat bot service, with new features to improve response rates, updates to the kinds of messages bots can send, as well as the ability for businesses to connect their customers’ accounts with their Messenger accounts.
