GDI Partners With Online Dating Association For Amsterdam Conference

online dating associationGDI is very pleased to have the backing of the industry’s trade body, the Online Dating Association (ODA), for next week’s European conference in Amsterdam.

The ODA’s Chief Executive George Kidd will be chairing the final panel debate at the event, where he will discuss the current state of online dating with some of the industry’s leading executives.

Kidd will also be giving a brief talk about the ODA, introducing the body to some attendees who may be unfamiliar with the organisation and its responsibilities.

Speaking about the ODA’s involvement in the event, Kidd said: “I’m delighted to be speaking and chairing a plenary session. The event will be a coming together of many of the ODA’s founders, its newer members and leading European and US firms that have services in numerous markets.

“I hope to set out the risks still faced and the critical importance of the sector working together at national and international levels.

“It’s also important to challenge those who may be less concerned about safety, trust and confidence, or who feel they can rely on others to support a strong industry voice and deliver an element of self regulation.”

Launched in January 2014 as the industry’s standards body, the ODA is responsible for setting and maintaining standards within the online dating sector.

It also works to ensure the industry is properly represented in the media, as well as giving the industry a stronger voice on discussions with the government, regulators & other third parties.

Over the past two years, the body has also developed relationships with many of the industry’s top dating brands, counting companies like Match.com, eHarmony & Lovestruck amongst its founding members.

Speaking about the organisation, Kidd added: “The ODA is unique in the world in setting standards and giving the sector a voice with regulatory and law enforcement bodies, with the media and political community and with advertising, telecoms and other businesses on whom companies must rely.

“An understanding of the sector and an appreciation of what is done to build trust and confidence has been key to the stability and innovation seen in the UK.”
